Frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Sign up at mybarcounter.com/signup with your name, email, and bar name. You'll get an activation key in the format VC-XXXX-XXXX. Download MyBarCounter from the App Store, open the app, and enter the key. The default 350+ item list is ready to count.
How does voice counting work?
Tap the microphone in the iOS app and say an item name like “Tito's” or “Bud Light.” The app finds the match and asks “How many?” Say a number — including fractions like “two and a half” or “point seven five” — and it's recorded.
Useful voice commands while counting: “undo”, “recount”, “line 5” to jump, “correct 7” to fix the last count, “add [item]” to accumulate.
Voice isn't recognizing my items. What should I check?
- Microphone permission — iOS Settings → MyBarCounter → Microphone.
- Internet connection — voice transcription requires online access.
- Item exists in your list — check Dashboard → Items.
- Try the brand name and the type — “Coors Light bottle” or “Coors Light draft.”
How do I add or import my own items?
On the web dashboard, go to Dashboard → Items. You can edit items inline, add them one at a time, or upload a CSV/Excel spreadsheet. Click Auto-categorize to let AI assign categories. Changes sync to all connected devices automatically.
How do I add my team?
On the dashboard, go to Dashboard → Teamand create a new activation key for each device or person. Share that key — they enter it in the iOS app and they're connected. You can rename, reset, or revoke any key from the same screen.
My device count doesn't match the dashboard.
MyBarCounter syncs counts in real time, but offline counting is supported — counts taken without connectivity sync once the device is online again. If a count looks wrong on the dashboard, refresh the page; if it still doesn't look right, email us with the device name and approximate time of the count.
How does invoice scanning work?
Open the Invoices tab on iOS or in the dashboard. Drop in a PDF or photo of a vendor invoice. The app extracts text, fuzzy-matches lines against your inventory, and shows you a review screen. Approve and the matched lines push into Purchases automatically.
What does it cost?
$100/month per bar ($85/month if billed annually). Additional bars are $75/month each ($65 annual). 30-day free trial, no credit card required, no contract, cancel anytime. Everything is included — no feature tiers.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Email support@mybarcounter.comand we'll take care of it. Self-serve billing management is coming once our payment processor is fully wired up.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email support@mybarcounter.com with as much detail as you can — what you were doing, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot or short screen recording if you have one. Feature requests get tracked and prioritized; we read them all.
